Remote Key Fob Repair
Most modern vehicles now feature a remote key fob that can be used to lock, unlock or start the car. As with any high-tech piece equipment, there are problems.
These are usually very easy to repair. You can reset it by following the instructions in your owner’s manual.
Check the Battery
The battery in a key fob powers the remote control function. It's a small and inexpensive part that needs to be replaced regularly to ensure the fob's functionality. However, in addition to the battery, there could be other reasons your fob might not be functioning properly. The reasons could be physical damage, exposure to water or internal component failure. Whatever the cause when your key fob isn't responding and is not responding, it's time for a replacement battery.
First, make sure you have the right size battery. Most modern key fobs use the standard CR2032 three-volt battery that's easily available at many stores. The majority of these batteries are engraved with the size on one of the fob's edges. You can determine the kind of battery your car requires by searching for the brand name.
Once you have the right battery then carefully open the key fob, and then remove the battery. Take a photograph of the inside of your fob to ensure that you put it back in the correct way. This simple step will save you from having to purchase another fob because you made an error when putting it back together.
It is also important to know that some key fobs include an additional mechanical key, called an emergency blade. It's located inside the key fob and allows you to open the driver's side door in the event that your remote control isn't working. Check the Connections
The key fob you have may cease to function even though it's programmed for your vehicle. It could be due to various reasons that include broken batteries or buttons. If this is the case, you might be in a position to fix it yourself by doing some basic maintenance.
